Kaleidoscoping is composed of  freehand character and rotoscope animation from footage shot by myself of actors swimming underwater. I drew it digitally using tvpaint and photoshop, then I organized the frames from those animation sequences  to be printed onto A2 sheets using a risograph printer. To do this, I had to separate the frames into two color channels, fluorescent pink and RISO blue so I could layer the inks to get those differing purple tones and gradients that appear throughout the movie.

After the frames were printed—all around the size of a credit card—they were individually registered in post production to create the textured, kinetic motion integral to the work! If you'd like to inquire about purchasing prints from the making of this film don't hesitate to contact me at carlalopezmail@gmail.com :)
